Broccoli rabe is also known as rapini.
You can substitute Chinese broccoli (gai lan) for broccoli rabe. Other options include bitter, leafy greens such as turnip greens, mustard greens, and collard greens. In step 2 of the recipe, remove any stringy bottom stem, then chop the leaves and stems and proceed with the recipe.
